We’re proud to share that our Waterbikes have sparked strong enthusiasm from the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation. As a result, starting in 2026, we hope to be supplying our Waterbikes for the renowned Waterbike Challenge — a demanding 180-kilometer, 22-hour race across the open-sea from Corsica to Monaco including elite participants none other than Tadej Pogačar, four-time and current Tour de France winner (2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025) and Giro d’Italia champion (2024).

FAQ

Yes, it is. In Switzerland, the Waterbike requires a license plate issued by the local nautical authorities of each Canton, which can be obtained easily. In France, Italy, and Germany, however, no registration is required—you can simply inflate it and head out.

In Switzerland, the capacity is limited to 2 persons on the Single Waterbike (FUN-ONE), including the mattress, and 3 persons on the Tandem Waterbike, also including the mattress. By comparison, in Italy, France, and Germany, the Waterbike may be used by up to 4 persons, mattress included.

Please check your local nautical regulations to ensure you are following the requirements applicable in your area.

Yes, the Waterbike is safe and thanks to the Catamaran design, the tipping-over is practically impossible under normal circumstances.

No, you do not become wet. You can ride the Waterbike in normal street-clothes even with a suit or dress.

To ride a Waterbike, one must be at least 155cm (approximately 10 years and up). The FUN-TANDEM OneFrame modell allows smaller people to ride the Waterbike as of 148cm (approx. 8 years and up).

For smaller people or children, the SUP mattress can be used to relax and ride along.

Book online and we can come to any location. While we’re flexible, our Waterbike rides typically start in Zürich-Enge.

Usage and Liability Agreement for Participation in Waterbike Activities, Zurich, November 2025

  1. Waterbike rides are generally paid for in advance. In case of overtime, the following additional costs are charged: (i) Waterbike-Single: CHF 40.00 per hour and (ii) Waterbike-Tandem: CHF 60.00 per hour.
  2. Wearing a life jacket is mandatory.
  3. Swimming during the ride is not permitted. Use by third parties without registration is prohibited.
  4. Open fires, fireworks, smoking, and barbecuing are strictly forbidden.
  5. Passenger ships (green ball) have right of way – a minimum distance of 50 meters must always be maintained.
  6. Entering the Limmat River is prohibited, and docking at the shore is not allowed.
  7. Riding is only permitted when in a fit condition: (i) no drugs, narcotics, or medications that impair ability to ride, and (ii) maximum blood alcohol level: 0.5‰
  8. Waterbikes or boats may not be tied together.
  9. Entering swimming areas (yellow buoys) is prohibited.
  10. Waste must be disposed of properly – no disposal in the water.
  11. Intentional damage to the Waterbikes may have legal consequences.
  12. The entire lake basin is monitored by the lake police. Operations by the lake police or Waterbike Adventures will be charged: (i) Waterbike Adventures: CHF 180.–, (ii) Maritime Police: CHF 800.–
  13. The Participant/s is/are liable for all damages and costs incurred to the Waterbike. The Participant/s is/are responsible for returning the Waterbike in full and undamaged condition and undertake to fully cover any damages or losses.
  14. Waterbike use is always at the Participant’s own risk, and insurance coverage (accident and liability insurance) is the responsibility of each Participant.
  15. «Waterbike Adventures by Alexandra Brändle» accepts no liability whatsoever.

We are a young, dynamic and, above all, mobile team.

Our locations change every weekend — we operate at different lakes across Switzerland, often on Lake Zurich, Lake Zug, and other approved bodies of water.

In Zurich, we mainly offer our tours at Hafen Riesbach / Zürichhorn or at Mythenquai near Zürich Enge.
