The WATERBIKE

A Waterbike is an innovative bicycle that glides across the water using your own pedal power. Combining cycling with the freedom of being on the lake, it offers a quiet, stable and environmentally friendly way to experience Lake Zurich from a completely new perspective. No engine, no emissions—just pure fun.

A lightweight aluminium frame is mounted on two inflatable pontoons and propelled by an efficient underwater propeller. 

The intuitive steering system makes the Waterbike effortless to control from the very first moment. Its exceptional stability allows anyone to enjoy the experience within minutes—giving you the feeling of being the captain of your own yacht.

Yes. Waterbikes are exceptionally stable thanks to their twin-pontoon design and are very difficult to tip over under normal conditions. Every guest receives a comprehensive safety briefing and wears a life jacket throughout the ride.

A Waterbike moves effortlessly across the water and can reach speeds of up to 14 km/h. 

Most riders comfortably cruise at around 6–8 km/h, depending on their pace and conditions. 

For comparison, traditional pedal boats (pedalos) typically reach only around 2 km/h, making the Waterbike a much faster, more dynamic and exciting way to explore the lake.

Normally, no. You ride comfortably above the water and stay dry. Only occasional splashes from wind, waves or rain are possible, making Waterbike suitable even in street clothes.

Not at all. In fact, you don’t even need to know how to ride a bicycle. Most guests feel comfortable after just a few minutes, making it ideal for beginners, families and experienced cyclists alike.

Absolutely. 

Waterbike is enjoyed by guests of all generations, including grandparents. As long as you feel comfortable with light physical activity and your health allows, you can enjoy a relaxing and memorable ride on the water. The stable design and effortless handling make it accessible for many different ages and fitness levels.

Yes of course! 

Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the adventure. If your four-legged friend gives you a happy bark and is ready to embark, your dog can enjoy a unique ride on the water with you. 

For everyone’s safety and comfort, please ensure your dog is comfortable around water and remains calm during the ride.

Please note that bookings should be made at least 24 hours in advance. We recommend reserving early, particularly during weekends and the peak summer season, as availability is limited.

Our main location is on beautiful Lake Zurich, offering stunning views of the city, surrounding hills and the Swiss Alps. Additional locations throughout Switzerland and special events can be arranged upon request.

As we operate without a permanent launch site, we kindly ask that all bookings be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Our standard operating hours are:

Weekdays: 19:00–21:00

Weekends: 08:00–21:00

Special requests—such as Early Sunrise-Rides or custom Fitness/Workout Sessions (e.g. from 06:00)—can be accommodated upon request.

Your safety comes first. If weather conditions make riding unsafe, we will gladly help you reschedule your booking for another available date at no additional cost.

Yes. You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 10 days before your scheduled ride. 

If your plans change, you can reschedule your booking up to 24 hours in advance at no additional cost. 

For changes requested less than 24 hours before your booking, we will do our best to accommodate you, subject to availability. 

Please note that no-shows and bookings not cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy are charged in full.

Participants should generally be at least 150 cm (4’11”) tall (approx. age 8+) to ride the Waterbike. 

For younger or smaller riders, the SUP mattress adds space for an additional person turning the Waterbike into a floating lounge — perfect for sunbathing, picnics, yoga, or extra space.

Yes. Waterbike is a popular family activity and suitable for children who meet the minimum height requirement and can ride a bicycle safely. Adult supervision is required for younger participants.

Absolutely. Waterbike is suitable for families, couples, friends and visitors of all ages looking for a fun and memorable outdoor experience on Lake Zurich.

Swimming skills are recommended but not required. Every participant wears a life jacket, and our team provides a full safety briefing before every ride.

Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and flat shoes are recommended. On sunny days, don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat. We also suggest bringing a light jacket if temperatures are cooler.

You decide the pace. A relaxed ride requires about the same effort as leisurely cycling on flat terrain, while faster pedalling provides an excellent cardiovascular workout. It’s suitable for both recreation and fitness.

Yes. Waterbike offers a unique setting for corporate events, team-building activities and private groups. We are happy to create customised experiences for companies and organisations.

The ideal group size depends on your programme and whether Waterbike is the main activity or part of a larger team event.

Our current fleet of 4 Tandem Waterbikes and 2 Race Waterbikes allows up to 10 riders on the water simultaneously. With our optional SUP mattresses, additional participants can join the experience, increasing capacity to up to 16 people at the same time.

For larger groups, we create flexible formats where participants can rotate between riding, relaxing, networking and enjoying additional activities such as BBQs or refreshments. We have successfully hosted groups from small teams of 8 people to larger events with 70+ participants.

As a mobile watersports provider, we can also bring the experience to most lakes and suitable waterways across Switzerland upon request.

For locations outside Lake Zurich, additional fees may apply. We are happy to provide a tailored quotation based on your preferred location.

Yes. A Waterbike experience makes a memorable gift for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or any special occasion. Gift vouchers can be purchased online and redeemed throughout the season.

Yes. 

One of the great advantages of the Waterbike is its portability. The lightweight design allows it to be packed neatly into a dedicated sports trolley bag for effortless transport and compact storage. 

The Waterbike easily fits into a normal car and can even be taken on public transport, allowing you to enjoy your Waterbike wherever your next adventure takes you.

Setting up your Waterbike is quick and effortless. Each of the four air chambers inflates or deflates in approximately 2 minutes, with the complete assembly taking less than 10 minutes. 

No tools are required, allowing you to spend less time preparing and more time enjoying your ride on the water.

The innovative chainless transmission eliminates chains, grease and regular mechanical maintenance, providing effortless handling and exceptional durability. 

Your Waterbike is designed for long-lasting enjoyment all backed by a 24-month warranty for a total peace of mind.

While the Waterbike can be used in both fresh and salt water, we recommend rinsing it with clean water after use—especially after riding in the sea—to keep it in optimal condition for years to come.

Yes. Waterbikes comply with Swiss regulations and may be used in accordance with local navigation rules. Our team will explain everything you need to know before your ride.

No. Neither a boating nor a driver’s licence is required to rent and enjoy one of our Waterbikes. After a short safety briefing, you’re ready to head out on the water.

All participants must wear the provided life jacket, follow staff instructions, respect other lake users and remain within the designated riding area. For safety reasons, riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited.
